How I look after finals week:
A disclaimer or how this blog will be nothing like a Sarah Phillips’ column.
If you track sports journalism at all you will know that last night a scandal erupted over Sarah Phillips, an ESPN columnist and how she may not be who she says she is. It’s an interesting read and you can head on over to Deadspin for the whole story but that’s not the point of this post. The point is to assure any readers that I may get that this blog will be nothing like the asinine garbage she spewed in her column “Junk Mail”. I wont pretend that I look like this:
although I’m not gonna lie, I wish that I did. I also have no plans on constantly mentioning the fact that I’m a female and how that makes me so “different”. Yes, the blog title is Girl Talks Sports but I hope to provide a site that provides actual analysis/stories without constantly whining about how people don’t listen to my opinions due to my gender. So that’s that.
I’m not going to pretend I’m the most knowledgable about sports and this blog may not start out as something amazing but I am passionate about this topic and with constructive criticism, healthy debates, and my own continuing education I hope to provide a site that is a valuable addition to the world of sports journalism.
Side Note: If you’re a girl and are interested in writing for the blog just message me! I’m mainly interested in basketball and college football so if your love lies in another sport it would be especially helpful :)
